In traditional medicine, different therapeutic applications for C. copticum have been described and in Persian traditional medicine it is used for thousands of years. The constituents of the seed of C. copticum included carbohydrates (38.6%), fats (18.1%), proteins (15.4%), fibers (11.9%), tannins, glycosides, moisture (8.9%), saponins, flavone, and mineral matter (7.1%) containing calcium, phosphorous, iron, cobalt, copper, iodine, manganese, thiamine, riboflavin, and nicotinic acid.

Carum Carvi:

Carum carvi belongs to the family Umbelliferae, is commonly knowm as Kala Jira, caraway, meridian fennel or Persian cumin. Caraway is a globally distributed spice with a history as a medicinal plant since ancient times. Thirty chemical has been reported in C. carvi, which is 97.58% of the total oil. The major phytochemicals of C. carvi essential oil were 37.98% (R)-(-)-carvone, 26.55% D-limonene, 5.21% α-pinene, 5.01% cis-carveol and 4.6% β-myrcene.

Coccus lacca (Shellac):

Shellac is a resinous substance excreted by the females of the lac insect, Laccifer (Tachardia) lacca (formerly Coccus lacca). The crude resin, also called sticklac, undergoes several processing steps to extract useful components. Lac is used in the manufacture of varnishes (shellac), sealing wax (lac wax) and red colorants (lac dye).
