Evening primrose is native to north and central America but it is cultivated throughout most of Europe and parts of Asia. Evening primrose medicinal quality derives from its seed oil. The oil consists of linolenic acid (65-80%), Gamma linolenic acid (8-14%) and Alpha linoleic acid (0.1-0.2%).
Primrose in Gynecology :
Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)- Gamma linolenic acid (GLA) in Primrose can help to decrease abdominal bloating, headache, fatigue, fluid retention, pelvic pain , mood swings , insomnia, anxiety by interferring with production of inflammatory prostaglandins.
